HOW TO WALK LIKE A MODEL

Modeling is not only about confidence and grace, it is also about your attitude and how you carry yourself in front of everyone. Walking whether on a ramp or runway is a most important skill of any Professional Model. Your walking attitude defines your talent as a model.

Walking on a runway is not as easy as it seems on the screen. You should own the runway while walking on it.

MAKE SIMPLE STEPS

As it is said small steps make a huge difference same goes for the Runway walk. Take small simple steps and walk gracefully. Don’t even try to take huge steps. Sometimes when we are watching a fashion show it seems that models are walking in lengthy or huge steps but it isn’t. they are taking short steps but in rhythm and that what makes the difference. Place one foot in front of the other and walk with long strides.

ATTITUDE

Your attitude while walking is what makes all the difference. Wear your confidence on your sleeve no matter what. Your confidence and attitude will definitely leave an ever lasting impression on the audience. Your walk should be bold and commanding. Don’t smile and keep your mouth closed in a natural position.

POSING

Once you get to the end of the walk, wait a beat and then lean onto one hip with all your confidence and poise. You can look down at the audience and make eye contact. You don’t have to move your head your eyes should do the work. Compose yourself as same facial expressions before and walk off the stage.

EYES

Keep your eyes focused on something, never look down while walking. Always look straight ahead at the cameras or choose a spot for your undistracted attention. It maybe tempting to make an eye contact with the audience but always avoid eye contact.

RHYTHM

Listen to music with strong beats, get a rhythm down and keep it consistent with your steps. If you can put a rhythm and attitude in your steps, your walk can come to life with a fantastic supermodel energy. Think flirty and confident as you step into a rhythm. While you’re stepping into a beat, remember to keep your shoulders back and body composed in the posture of a supermodel.

To sum up, just remember practice makes a man perfect, so if you don’t get it right the first time you need not to worry keep walking and practicing until you are ready to face the lights.
